Well the k.c. has finally said what a lot of people have been thinking no shows to at least October at the soonist possibly the whole year

So sad for those chasing JW points especially.   I have a friend who was doing well with her latest exhibit and racking up the necessary points - plus a first CC.  Very frustrating.

At least they are safe and will have a stud book number with a CC anyway

I understand that Coronavirus has to be taken seriously but I think this complete lock-down of almost everything today needs to be revised as soon as each and every health care worker are given adequate P.P.E. (personal protection equipment) then outside dog shows with 'social distancing' and people wearing masks (if they choose to) would be rather safe, there would be little chance of anyone spreading the virus, also I believe many (maybe most) people have probably already had the virus anyway in about early March (at around the time of CRUFTS) I believe what we are seeing today is the ripple effect from this earlier time when everyone was heading out for their extra food shopping (which was like Supermarket Sweep at the time) and I see the sense why we all felt the need to do a bit of extra food shopping. I can appreciate also the knock - on effect of Coronavirus has taken everyone (including the government) by surprise, but I believe its now time for our Government to start to looking into absolutely every situation in relation to the realistic chances of spreading the virus, and treat every situation based on its own merits as Coronavirus is going to be around for the foreseeable future I would imagine. Also, there are people waiting for urgent operations/appointments etc that should never be delayed, also like to say hats off to all the outstanding health care workers who have risked their own lives to save others (well done each and every one of you).

Scientifically speaking the givernment shouldn't have been taken by surprise as their own scientific advisors were warning them back in December about tjis dpecific virus, but sadly they chose to totally ignore the advice.

I very much doubt that the majority of the UK population has had/has this virus, there is no scientific evidence to prove this at this time. It will obviously be more common in high density conurbations like cities & large towns.

As to urgent operations, they are still going ahead, a friend has recently had a mastectomy to remove her equally recently diagnosed cancerous breast. Another friend is starting treatment for her recently diagnosed throat cancer. Elective operations like weight reducing treatments, are being delayed, but nothing that is life-threatening

Should the restrictions be lifted ? If 33,000 people have died despite lockdown. The results would have worse without lockdown. I do think those pressing for their particular hobby/pastimes to be exempted are being sone what selfish

My boy went to crufts as a minor puppy with seven j.w. points hasn't been shown since and no chance of getting it now he is eighteen months the eighth of December and even if shows do restart in October it is one of the quiet times of years for shows

I totally agree with you Ann that we need lockdown, all I am saying is I believe that the virus was already here in the U.K. and being spread around earlier (quite a bit earlier) than what was first thought, I do believe that many people have already had the virus. I also believe Lockdown should have happened earlier. Just my opinion.

Why you think the virus was in UK before November ?

The 2019 Influenza virus has some very similar symptoms to Covid19, but with notable differences.

There is no scientific evidence to prove Covid19 predates November & titre & other tests done in November(including authopies) show only 2019 Influenza. These are tests done all over the world not just UK & are done annually to develop Influenza vaccines.

Germany relaxed their lockdown & Covid19 cases have dramatically increased.

The 'flu' sample from a French man, taken in December, has tested positive for Covid-19. The virus was certainly in Europe last year.

The link is for someone who tested positive in December so after November. I'd be interested in seeing any evidence from BEFORE November as the claims that there have been proven cases before November has no test results to substantiate them.

Plus there were lots of faulty negative & positive results with the earliest tests. Virology is a special interest of mine from my professional research days. The test was only done recently from sample taken in december from a man whose wife could have had contact with psssengers from China in her job. Would be interesting to know if any backtracking has been done on this case

The first death outside of China was in France on 14th February of a Chinese tourist.

There have been claims in the UK that people hsd Covid19 in August 2019, but again no evidence to prove this

I have to admit I’m disappointed that I haven’t been able to show my very first show dog very much since he turned 6 months in December - I doubt very much we’d have got JW but now there’s no chance at all. And even if things start again in December that doesn’t give us many opportunities to qualify for Crufts.

He’s almost 12 months now and I was planning to start training in pre-agility soon. And that’s not going to happen.

That said, I’d rather have a quiet year without shows that lose friends and family or get sick myself. Crufts will be there in future. Maybe I could get another pup in a couple of years. I can’t replace people I love.

I have only managed to get to ONE show since 6 April 2019, so perhaps I am used to it now...!!

Such a high number of deaths here in the U.K. already (the latest figures are absolutely shocking) extremely sad, its absolutely heart breaking.

The Irish KC have announced no further shows for the rest of 2020!

Me either.. i can't see any mass gatherings inside any venue this year

I believe that it should be possible to hold outside shows later on, but once we get to indoor shows - not so much!
