Hi another question, I have been giving my [breed removed] cottage cheese as a treat, between a teaspoon and desert spoon size, maybe every three to five days.  I am unsure if she is in first stage labour.  Wood this cottage cheese prevent my dog going into labour.  Thanks

Cottage cheese is a source of calcium and should not be given to pregnant dogs because excess calcium during pregnancy can cause eclampsia, which is life-threatening.  However a teaspoon every 3-5 days isn't going to provide much calcium so don't worry...

That's good to know, the amounts given are only small but there is a lot of conflicting info out there.  Also, sorry just concerned, she has come out of her den and has stopped nesting.  She seems chilled.  Can she stall labour and if so how can we help.  We have her in a corner in the living room, telly quite quiet.  Thanks

Cottage cheese is something I use - for mum and puppies but not for mum until after she's whelped.

Well she can stall in labour but if she hasn't been panting and pushing yet, then it's doubtful that labour has even started yet, which is a different thing.

Did you do any progesterone timing?  If not, it's pretty impossible to know if you've gone over.  Is she a toy breed or do you suspect a singleton puppy?
