Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / How can I help with pain for Bitch that lost her litter

My Rottweiler just lost all of her pups...6 during delivery and 3 shortly after.  I live in a country where it's difficult to get a vet, or even communicate with one, especially on the weekend. While she's up and about, she wants to stay on a super comfortable surface and she is giving little cries often. I know she is tough but she is probably in a lot of pain.  Is there a recommendation for something for her that would help stop milk production and also something for pain relief? I will be working diligently to find a vet tomorrow when they are open again. She is a large dog and her breasts are large and full.  I don't know if I should be manually expressing in the meantime? I have cut back on her food and water. Any direction, until I can get to a vet, would be appreciated by both Ella and myself.  Thanks.

Don't express, she will produce even more milk. Sorry can't help otherwise.

Why did she lose the pups?  I can understand losing a pup for some reason, but to lose an entire litter suggests something more systemic is going on, and she may be in urgent need of vet attention....

Cut back on food yes.  But not on water.

She needs to see a vet NOW.

She does need a vet to check her over - do you know she doesn't have a retained puppy, for eg.   Don't milk her - that only encourages lactation.  The vet lshould be able to give her something to help scatter the milk.    But that's just physically.  Emotionally she needs to be taken out for some gentle exercise in the fresh air, to get her mind off what her entire system is telling her she should be doing at the moment.

Do you know why this happened?

Cut back on food, but as said not on water.  Have you checked her temperature for fever?
