Topic Dog Boards / Health / Suspected pneumonia

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with suspected pneumonia in their dog. My almost 5 year old spayed german shepherd has been off form for 10 days. It began with her not eating her dinner and seemed a little quiet.
I took her to the vet's and she had a high temperature and her chest sounded a bit noisy. He gave her 2 antibiotic injections and anti inflammatory and synulox tablets. He advised me to return with her if she hadn't improved in a few days.
I returned 4 days later and her temperature was still high. So they admitted her and began IV antibiotics. A chest xray showed an area of concern which was sent to a specialist for review. A xray and ultrasound of her abdomen were unremarkable. Bloods showed a high white cell count.
She spent 4 days in the vet's and after receiving more specialist advice,  we managed to get her temperature down. I brought her home and back daily for  antibiotics injections over the weekend.
Yesterday we started tablets until Friday when we will review again. She seems in good form but I feel that it will be a slow recovery.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with pneumonia in their dogs.

I haven't but would guess that as in humans it will take time for her to be fully well .I would keep in touch with your vet for checks etc .meanwhile ,good food and gentle exercise so she doesn't overdo things.
