My male [medium size breed] is not trying to mount the bitch at all but he sniffing her and licking her but that is all, she appears to be ready she is presenting her rear to him moving her tail out the way letting him lick she is on her 10th day now but he just isn’t interested in mounting her, this female dog doesn’t live with us but our own female when she was last on heat he was going nuts for her and trying to mount her so he does know what to do was just wondering if anyone has any advice on why he’s not interested in mounting her and if there is any way to encourage him more.

Is he a proven stud?

No he’s not and it’s the females first time aswell, but our own female we bred her 2 years ago and it was her first time and the studs first time aswell and they got on absolutely fine

She's not ready yet, it's as simple as that. Male dogs can usually tell. Keep trying every other day.

Has the bitch being progesterone tested? I would consider getting that done to see where she is
