Topic Dog Boards / General / Blaby District Council, Leics approve changes to Dog Policy

Dog owners will be fined £100 with no discount for early payment if they are not carrying poo bags after Blaby councillors approved changes to its dog policy.

A flat fine of £100 will be dished out to dog owners who don't pick up or can’t prove they have bags to pick up their pet’s poo and don’t use a lead, or use a lead longer than two metres in designated areas. Blaby District Council approved changes to an existing policy that will see the amount charged for fixed penalty notices set at £100 with the option of discounts for early payment removed. Rules now state that dogs must be kept on a lead - of no more than two metres - at all times when being walked on the nature reserve, including car parks and picnic areas. People will also be fined if their pet is not on a lead on any council cemeteries, graveyards, churchyards or burial grounds. Full article HERE

As always, who is going to do the catching and fining!!    I'd love to see the lead rule applied where I live but in general we residents do pick up - it's just the holidaymakers who come in and think they can leave what their dogs do, lying around all across the cliff-top walks!!!   I won't take my dogs up there because it's just filthy.
