You can't do much except for monitor closely and seek help when you need to.  If you did any kind of timing (progesterone or cytology) you would know pretty much exactly when she is due, and therefore when she is overdue.  Without that, it is going to be hard to know when she is overdue and when you need to seek help... You can get reverse progesterone testing done at the vet - which will tell you when she is in her whelping window - except most vets can't run progesterone in-house.

thanks for reply

we did do Progesterone threw idexx went for mating on the advice of them, so you can imagine the disappointment of one pup purely down to the problems a singleton can give

so her due date is the 7th november

Great that you have the timing then, I think you can worry a lot less now

From experience with a singleton puppy, don't let her go too many days over or you will be looking at a C.Section, for one puppy!!   Often they just sit, growing bigger by the day = more likely to need surgery!

The only problem we've had (and we've had singleton's twice, the first because one of the only two puppies was DOA) with singletons is they get very spoilt.   I remember my true singleton 'litter', the bitch which we kept, was a real prima donna because once mum started spending more time away from her, and once being weaned especially, I used to carry her around with me rather than leave her all alone in the box.   And her early experience showed!  Thankfully the others showed her respect!
