
I'm not a vet or expert in such matters, but I don't see there'd be any difference in the life of sperm, whether or not there's a tie, or just a slip mating. Or replenishment time. As long as there's penetration, the sperm should get there - we had one boy who never achieved a tie and with him, we'd upend the bitch after dismounting to encourage what was deposited, to get where needed. He only missed to one bitch and she came back to our other male (tie) on her next season but missed again to him. She then went to another stud dog, and that too wasn't successful. Clearly not the fault of the studs withher.
