Hi
One of my entire boys has smelly pee - there I said it. I have a breed that has a "skirt", I do cut a channel into the undercarriage but there are long furnishings on each side.
During the winter/wet months it's fine as it doesn't make his skirt smell, the rain/dew cleans it during our walks.
However, during the summer, we only have to go on a short walk and you can smell the difference on him. Even when he's just been patrolling the garden and lifted his leg, you can smell it.
Aside from giving him a dip in the bath every time we come back in, which isn't practical for a number of reasons, does anyone have any suggestions that might make it less smelly?
I was thinking of trying Dog Rocks, we have artificial grass, so not doing it for that reason, just wondered if they might change something in his urine? I don't want to go messing up the PH balance of his pee but wondered if there was anything I could give him to eat/drink which might make it less strong.
And, for the record, he has always been like this, so I know it's not an infection or such like.
Thanks!
I have this problem. After each walk I take a comb dipped in some heavily diluted shampoo and comb it through his skirt, only takes a few seconds. Removes the stain and smell. Also check the hair around his penis, you could have some in the way of his aim so it is directing it on his fur. In that instance I would clip or cut the hair from that area.
