Topic Dog Boards / General / Is this an appropriate question to ask a breeder?

I have a dog that is 2 year's old and have recently thought it would be nice to be in contact with the owners of her siblings, share photos etc.   I asked the breeder if she would pass on my details to the other owners and then leave it to them to contact me if they wanted.   I have had no response and I know she will have received my email as I often send updated photos of her pup.  What do you think, am I missing something?

Has she usually replied to contact ? I think it's a great idea . Depends on how long it has been since the email but u could try and find out if she has been able to pass it on . Some breeders want more co tact than others of course
One of my dogs the breeder is very proactive and we started a secret fb group with her agreement for any owners who have pups from her.  After nearly 10 years on and It has  grown as anyone who has pup from her is given the details   we can all keep in touch ,swap.storoes and help with anything that may arise down the line

Just to say, as a breeder, I love to keep in contact with my puppies(that includes into adulthood & up until the fateful day). As much as I try, with some there is always those that is a one way contact & some I have lost total contact with, even though I have tried.
With this in mind, there is going to be those that just will not want to contact you with a sibling, if they don't even want to keep in touch with the breeder.

None of my puppy buyers have ever asked to be in touch with litter siblings.

Thanks.  Yes although on the last two occasions that I sent a photo I had no email response but when I bumped in to her she did thank me for the photo.   She probably has at least 2 litters every year maybe it is just logistically challenging to remember who had which pup??   Maybe I should try again but glad it doesn't seem odd to you.

What a great idea to set up a fb group, that is a wonderful commitment.

Lexy, yes understood, not everyone is the same.  I wish I had asked the question when I had first picked up the pup but I think at the back of mind I thought it would be similar to another breeder who I kept in touch with for 15 years.

Yes we’ve done a Facebook group with my youngster’s siblings’ families! It’s really nice to see what they’re all up to and compare notes.

Many of my puppy buyers are in touch with each other, sometimes even meet up, and friend each other on Facebook. For one litter 10 of the 11 owners keep in touch very frequently. I think it's to be encouraged. It's starting to "spread" to other litters as well i.e. some people with dogs from different litters get to know each other. Facebook helps a LOT.
