Topic Dog Boards / Health / Emmi Pet Ultrasound Toothbrush Reviews
- By TheBearded One Date 20.01.19 11:47 UTC
Hi all,

I've seen adverts of the Emmi Pet Ultrasound toothbrush being posted on various Facebook dog groups. After initially dismissing it as some fad, I thought I'd do a little bit more research around it after having used Petz Life Oral gel for quite a while and not seeing the results without scraping - which is fine but some of my dogs really don't like me doing that to their teeth.

With the starter kits being sold for £199, I'd really like to know if anyone has come across the Emmi Pet Ultrasound toothbrush and more importantly, what are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading, looking forward to hearing your views

I bought this (starter kit £189) a few months ago and was surprised how well the dogs tolerate it. It cretainly seems to soften the tartar making it easier to scrape off (if your dog will allow it) but even if they won't then daily use of just a couple of minutes each session, along with hard chews or bones to scrape the teeth instead, certainly seems to make a differentce - and the dog's breath smells much better! I don't regret buying it.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it!! Do you find you have to use a lot of the toothpaste? I read somewhere that it needs reapplying if you hold the brush for longer than 30 seconds on a tooth?

You got it for a good price too, can you tell me who or where you bought it from?

Thanks again

30 seconds on each tooth is plenty, but you only need a very small amount of toothpaste each time. With my four dogs, being done daily for a month and 2 or 3 times a week for a month, I've just started my second tube.
I got my kit from Angela Rollinson on this Facebook Group.

(Sorry, just checked and the kit was £195 inc P&P)

My experience is a bit different to JG's, possibly because I only use the Emmi Pet on toydogs so much smaller teeth and smaller, tight mouths - my large dogs never need their teeth cleaning as they have bones regularly. The toothpaste that came with it I couldn't use because the dogs hated it. I bought an Arm & Hammer beef flavoured one on Amazon instead and they like that. The worst trouble is that they all HATE the Emmi Pet being used. Absolutely detest it. 2 or 3 of them try to bite every single time, the rest give up and put up with it but very unhappily. And yes I did do it all gradually to get them used to it, but if anything they dislike it more for every time.

So I don't do it more than once a week. The older dogs all had a lot of tartar. It IS going, but so slowly that I know that I am going to have to take them all to be done by the vet, so I can start afresh. Some of the tartar isn't shifting at all. I don't know if it is our water perhaps, but the younger dogs in particular (aged 2-4) have really thick all covering pure WHITE tartar on their back teeth, and the Emmi Pet isn't doing anything whatsoever there. Wheras on the brown tartar on the canines and teeth closer to the front, it is going.

If there are sore gums, the Emmi Pet DOES make them bleed. And yes that is without brushing as you are not meant to. I can use it perhaps 5 minutes per dog per time maximum, that is all they will tolerate. So all in all I am not very impressed. It would probably be fine if it was used for prevention as opposed to tartar removal. I'm trying that with my Poodle puppy.

I have miniature schnauzers so it's useful to know how your toydogs have taken to it and something for me to bear in mind if I decide to take the plunge.

I bought an Emmi-Pet for my mini dachshunds and Shih tzus I was so impressed with the results I became a distributor.
It’s silent non invasive and it Doesn’t vibrate.   All my dogs tolerate it and are happy for me to clean their teeth.
I invested in the eraser which is brillant. After a few sessions the Emmi-Pet softened the tartar and the eraser just rubbed it off.
I have a Facebook page if you’d like to see my dogs before and after photos.

I've used it on my Cavaliers, one in particular is extremely intolerant of normal brushing. I found that although she tossed her head around a bit, she wasn't too bad about just having the brush held to her teeth, although they all tend to be constantly licking at the brush and chomping, so I'm not sure how effective it is. I did find after using it for 2 or 3 days I managed to get some huge bits of tartar off her back teeth. Then I lost the toothpaste when we tidied for Christmas, and I've only just got round to buying a new tube, so I need to start using it again!

I've just bought one of these having read some of these reviews and then researched it elsewhere online.  The majority of reviews are really amazing.  It is expensive, but dentals are even more expensive - and traumatic for the dog.

I can't give my personal experience of it yet, as it hasn't arrived...

If anyone interested there is a Spring special on emmi-pet. Approx £140 for 2 brushes and £120 for 1 brush.  Although it says more on the website, when you take it through to Amazon check-out you will see the amount you pay.  https://www.emmi-pet.com/spring-offer/

Is it any good? I’ve been thinking about getting one but can’t decide.
I feed cold pressed and my dog’s teeth are not the best. I can compare them with their siblings fed bog standard kibble and their teeth are great. I’m seriously considering going back to a premium kibble but can’t decide that either!

I raw feed so my boy has really good teeth but they are starting to stain and meaty bones don't seem to be fixing it.  If you have a dog with tartar and he/she will tolerate a brush just being held gently on the teeth for 30 seconds at a time then it's a winner and will improve them significantly without expensive dental bills or anaesthetic.
