Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Cocker Spaniel that carries tan
- By Sassy spaniels [gb] Date 09.10.18 18:57 UTC
Hi, I am new to possible breeding and my question is my blue roan cocker spaniel has a liver dad and a blue roan mum - without getting her tested for what colours she carries does anybody know if she could carry for tan, I am testing to see if she carries liver, her brother carries tan and he has light ginger eyebrows but he is liver. Sorry for jumbled up message.  Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Kitty

If her sibling has a tan gene she has a 50/50 chance to have also inherited it from the carrier parent bit without testing you can't know.
However keep in mind that colour is the least important thing to consider in breeding.

If she had a liver patient she will carry the liver gene as that's all the liver patient could give her.
