Topic Dog Boards / Health / Cough on waking

I have an 11 month old boxer pup who sometimes coughs a bit like kennel cough when he wakes up. It’s never after exercise and he usually stops within a minute or so. Parents AS clear for hearts and from CM free lines as best as anyone can tell. Wormcounts this week came back clear for all worms including lung worm. He is fine in himself and runs around like something possessed when out and about (again no coughing from this).
It’s not every time but I’m wondering if he could be irritated by something in his crate as I don’t think he does it when he’s asleep elsewhere. I clean his crate regularly but it does seem to be a beggar for keeping dust and his hair; could it be this and he is just clearing when he wakes up.? It’s a non-productive cough and he doesn’t have a gunky nose or anything.

Other than this he is totally fine and he doesn’t seem bothered by it. It’s also maybe only two OT three times a week. Can they get hay fever?

Has anyone else had this?

I would go to your vet for a check-up.  Coughs can be signs of all kinds of things, including heart disease...

I was thinking more allergy. Surely and 11 month old puppy wouldn’t have heart disease? No murmurs in his last check and he never does it after exercise it’s literally now and again when he wakes up in his crate.
I might super wash all his bedding see if it goes away and if not then I’ll consider the vets.
