KENNEL CLUB LAUNCHES NEW JUDGES’ CRITIQUES WEBSITE

The Kennel Club has announced the launch of a new Judges’ Critiques website:

https://kcjudgescritiques.org.uk/

This free website has been developed as a tool for breed judges to publish and manage their written critiques and provide a free service for exhibitors and members of the public to view critiques in one place. To use the website, judges are invited to register and set up an individual login based on their email address, with a password. The Kennel Club takes its responsibilities seriously and aims to support the education and training of judges and support the standard of judging at licensed dog shows. The new Judges’ Critique website will help to complete the circle of services offered to exhibitors, judges and Kennel Club licensed events by providing a facility to publish and view critiques anywhere. Once a judge has published a critique, a copy of it will be sent to the registered email to keep a copy for their own records.

I have signed up, but this must have come as bad news for Our Dogs. I think most people's main reason for subscribing is for their breed notes and the show critiques.

Indeed - after all Dog World folded!!!    But the bottom line - how many judges still don't bother to submit the critique they are contracted to do!!   Mind you some of the critiques I've read over the years often made me think I must have been looking at a different animal

I wonder what does it mean "publish and manage", does it mean the critique can be amended/deleted etc, by the judge, at any time?

The sentence I find most amusing is 'we will send you a copy of the critique'. Well I would assume one would have their critique on word to submit to the website....??

Possibly. I would imagine it will make life easier for the judges whom judge numerous breeds at any one show. It must be a nightmare for them to keep abreast of their critiques. At least this way there will be no excuse for not submitting them.

I guess this new system will allow the KC to keep an eye on whom is not submitting critiques, when they should be and take action.

Until the Kennel Club changes its rules, it's still a requirement to submit to the dog press. They will have known this was coming soon when they changed the rules requireing judges to critique 1st and 2nd place at open shows as well as championship shows at the beginning of the year so I'm not sure this isn't meant to be additional.

Maybe it allows for hand written critiques that have been posted in by snail mail?
