I have quite a few cans of ziwipeak beef tinned food in the cupboard which my dog loves. I was thinking about what treats to bring to obedience class, and i decided to try baking this wet food.. I lined a tray with baking paper and cut the loaf into bite size pieces and baked the lot, they turned out somwhat crunchy on the outside, and soft in the middle. He went nuts for it, seemed to enjoy it much more in a baked form.
I was worried that it would stink out the house, but there wasnt really any smell. I would love to try this with tinned tripe, but I'm afraid i would have to replace the oven afterward lol

Has anyone tried this with their dogs?

No and I'd be wary that doing this doesn't affect (kill off) the 'extras' in the food.   I don't think it's meant to be 'cooked' although I don't know!

In the past I have baked Royal Canin Renal to make treats for a dog with kidney failure.

I can't see this would be a problem if its just for training treats as opposed to being the main diet. I imagine the dog is having a balanced diet as its main source of food.
It's probably a lot better than many of the commercial treats as the basic ingredients do not contain 'chemicals' or other 'nasties' which are in a lot of other treats.

Fair point mamabas, i don't know if baking would destroy all of the nutrients. But as mentioned, I'm using these as training treats, and is probably "healthier" than the sausage etc I've been using.
I was bored when i thought this up, and i felt like experimenting in the kitchen ala doggy cuisine

I've heard of this being done with Nature Diet
