I saw on here somewhere that feeding puppies raw doesn't have the correct nutrients and protein in it ,so now i am totally confused as i thought it would be ok  ?

Other than a raw diet, you should keep a puppy of this age on the food he's been having with his breeder.  Moving home is stressful enough without changing the diet at this point.  Good breeders not only give you a diet sheet, but many provide a small amount of the food they use when you first bring your puppy home.   I think you'd do best to stick with what he's been having, for now.  There's no doubt you'd need to provide all a growing puppy needs, which, for me is usually 'all in the bag'.

Not sure where you read that but a lot of raw feeders who breed will raise their pups on raw food.

If you want to be on the safe side and still feed raw, feed a complete commercial raw mince for puppies - that has to (by law) have all the required nutrients, vitamins etc etc in it, and still is raw.

You probably want to wait for him to settle in with you and then transition carefully.

Unfortunately there are no laws that cover a complete raw mince.
There are good ones out there but many are not  totally balanced and may add extras that arnt needed
.using heart as organ meat is common place when it should be muscle meat for raw feeding purposes and bone amounts are often all over the place and that includes some of.the well known ones .

u all ready feed raw so  feeding a pup is no different except keeping the bone content to 10% for good bone growth  otherwise it's the usual 80 .10.5.5.
fruit and veg optional and if fed is on  top of daily allowance .

If u are on fb barf uk is a good group to join who will guide u .There are many raw feeding breeders on there and people converting young pups successfully

Actually, there are laws pertaining to what dog and puppy foods contain - and the requirements for nutrients are the same whether the food is raw, kibble or cooked:  https://www.businesscompanion.info/en/quick-guides/animals-and-agriculture/manufacturing-your-own-pet-foods  They come from the EU, currently.  Feeding a commercial product will ensure the puppy receives these nutrients whilst growing - since growing puppies have MUCH more specific needs than adult dogs.

Yrs to produce your own raw food and sell direct to the public there are mamy strigemt regulatiins but not what needs to be in it or the ratios . Otherwise u would find all the complete raw on the market would contain the correct amounts and be the same .there are so many around and few  actually have the 80/10/5/5 considered standard by raw feeders  . That's aside from fruit and veg being added to some which is optional. . If u look at a few different ones u will see what the contain can be very different.  Nature's menu for.example sells some raw that contains rice.  Companies.like.paeloridge only contain meat bone and offal . The amount of bone  in one can be very different to another .just as a few examples. basically have a look or feed a few different completes and one can soon see how different they can be

I can pretty much confirm that all the major food companies (of raw, kibble and wet foods) conform to what is considered best practice under FEDIAF:  http://www.fediaf.org/self-regulation/safety/  - You can click on module 6, Pet Food Design and Formulation.  You will indeed find that all complete raw on the market contains levels between minimum and maximum recommended amounts of vitamins and calcium to phosphorus ratio.  Yes, what they can contain besides and around that can vary widely.

In the US, there ARE laws about what has to be in pet foods, in terms of minimal vitamins and calcium to phosphorus ratio.  And many kibble products sold in the US are also sold here...

It is far more likely that you will make up a balanced diet by feeding a mainstream commercial raw food than by feeding anything homemade.

It is important to point out that this has nothing to do with 80/10/5/5 or any other ratio of meat and bone and vegetables, or whether or not it contains rice - it is about nutrients themselves:  Vitamin levels, calcium and phosphorus levels.  That is why kibble, which contains zero bone, can meet the same requirements as raw.

If you feed over the maximum amount of vitamin A, you will see cleft palates develop in unborn puppies during pregnancy.  It doesn't matter if that excess vitamin A comes from raw food or from kibble, the effect is the same.  If the calcium to phosphorus ratio is incorrect, the puppy will have growth and bone development affected irreversibly - again, it doesn't matter if they are eating a kibble or a raw food.

Food manufacturers (whether raw or kibble) don't really want to get sued for giving unborn puppies cleft palates or affecting their growth permanently, so they ensure their products fall within recommended acceptable levels for these and all other nutrients.  Obviously there is no such guarantee when feeding a raw you have put together yourself.
