Has anyone given Calpol to their dog for pain relief

unless prescribed by a vet which I doubt no. its paracetamol which very easily can be toxic , ask the vet if you dog is in pain

My vet tells me if a human product is safe for dogs.  And I have never been given Calpol for pain.  It is dangerous to prescribe something yourself.

I know one doctor who gave paracetamol to his cat.  Stupid, stupid idiot.  The cat died.  He should have been charged with animal abuse.
