Hi guys I'm very new to all of this I am currently looking for my first corgi, I'd prefer recommendations of breeders and what should I be asking. We want one as a pet rather than show but I am going to the Haywood show this month. So who knows I may get hooked. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Louise
First of all you need to say whether it is a Pembroke or a Cardigan corgi that you are interested in.
Sorry I am looking for a Pembrokeshire corgi

No worries! I have Cardigan corgis so unfortunately can’t help re recommendations. Hopefully Pembroke people will come on with advice.
Good Luck

Apart from going to a few shows, contact the relevant Breed Club and ask for names. Clubs have Codes of Ethics which should rule out BYBs!! But regardless, you must plan on visiting the breeder, by appointment (breeders are generally busy people) so you meet them. These people will become important during the life of the puppy you eventually choose and buy so you need to get along.
The Secretary of the welsh corgi league is Margaret Hog garth, her phone number is 0191 5294118 she lives at south shields Tyne and wear I hope this helps there is a breed club championship show pennine and Yorkshire welsh corgi association on the 21 of October at Heywood sports village, west Starkey street, Heywood, Lancashire, OL10 4TW. Sorry to jump in here, Corgilover. Is this show purely for corgi? I live very near and would like to start going to watch shows again and this could be a good re-starting point for me, if there's many breeds.
Yes it is a purely corgi show for both Pembroke and cardigan corgis but the Secretary is local to the area Preston, and is still actively showing herself and may be able to help if you want to pop in and ask about other local shows coming up, I hope this helps

That sounds great debbo and what I often do .it's fun watching different breeds and have met some nice people too

Thanks for the info Corgilover
