my small breed bitch was scanned 2 weeks ago day 28 and scan showed no pups.so decided to scan again week later and she was found to be carrying a singleton which was described by the scanning lady (who is very experienced) as a large pup.this is my first experience of a singleton.she is due 22nd august.i know sometimes a bitch can fail to go into labour and/or not pass the pup if too big.this is her second litter.had 4 last time by normal delivery.can anyone please give me some advice.these breed is normally an easy whelper producing 5 pups or so.im very apprehensive as i live on my own and i have a family do roundabout time of the birth (was arranged after my bitch was mated)

Apart from the fact that scans only show, or not, puppies at the time of the scan, I'd not leave her much more than 2 days over her due date because so often a singleton, or small litter, just sits, growing bigger by the day and meaning a C.Section is more likely.   Personally I'd forego the family 'do' to be with my bitch.
