I have a maiden dog and bitch, she is on day 13 of her season, tail is swishing to the side, she sort of stands for my dog, but doesnt really seem that keen.... still losing blood, and vulva seems a bit tight..

Would you think she is not quite ready, and should I leave them together all the time, or keep them separated with just short visits, I am here all the time and would not leave them alone!

She's probably not quite ready yet. Have you got an experienced mentor? It's better to have 2 people on hand with a mating, one to steady the bitch and one to help with the dog.

I feel really embarrassed, as I have been involved in dogs for over 40 years... showing, judging and breeding.... but never with my own 2 maiden dogs together!!!
