A friend has asked me for some help preparing her Manchester Terrier for their first show. I have gundog and have never seen Manchester Terriers show, I've looked online but could still do with some pointers. I know they're gone over on a table, are they free stood or stacked? Anything else I need to tell her?
Thanks

You stack on the table. Then after movement they are often free stood - but if your terrier doesn't come to a stand square you can correct it :)

Suggest your friend to accustom her dog to feeling comfortably on the table while being touched and stroked and pressed all over her body and legs and head by other people. A terrier should convey an attitude of confidence and focus, and if the dog is not used to the above things it may make her shy away from judge's hands which will spoil her table stack also.

While on the floor, free natural stack which you can correct a bit, again attitude is very important confidence and focus

I'd recommend your friend goes back to whoever bred her dog for tips/pointers.   And for her assessment of the dog because these days, showing costs a lot and you do need a good specimen of the breed to stand any chance of not coming out 'with the rubbish'!!    I'd recommend some Ringcraft Classes too, so the dog isn't upset being in a strange environment.

She travelled some distance to get her pup so the show will be first time breeder will see her since she collected her. She's a lovely outgoing puppy used to obedience and agility environment so am sure she'll be fine. Friend doesn't intend showing really, just wants to support breeder.
