Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Bitch bringing food back up for older pup

My bitch had a litter 4 months ago and I kept a male pup. If I wasn't careful she would regurgitate for her litter and I know that is normal behaviour but we are now 4 months on and every other day or so she is bringing a meal back up for her son. This can be straight after eating or hours afterwards.
I separate them after eating but can't keep them separate all the time. She also usually choosing to do it on my best rug!
Has anyone experienced this? Does it stop as pup gets older (if so when?!)?

Sounds like a super brood bitch.

Sadly I have no answer as to when it will cease.

Do you feed him in her sight?  Just wondered if she feels he isn't being fed

Sorry for the slow reply!

Yes they are fed side by side. She is a fabulous mum and they have a very close bond, I'd just rather stop the throwing up, especially as she could do with more weight on her. There is no warning either, they can be playing and then bam! A silent pile of food/vomit is there!

Disgusting aren't they, love mother Nature! I'm having a similar problem but with the litter's GRANDMOTHER!!! Managed to persuade her not to regurgitate after a couple of weeks of dry heaving after her meals (mum never bothered to try though has been a fabulous mum generally), but even now with the litter 10 weeks old and starting to go to their new homes, I have both mum and granny leaping in to eat any random puppy poo they can get hold of (and neither of them are poo eaters as a rule). I'm running one on, so it looks like being a fun few months ahead.....
