Hi guys, wonder if anyone could offer any advice?
I have a breed that always goes on day 61. My girl is currently day 63 from 1st mating, 61 from 2nd, and 59 from 3rd - seriously regretting the 3rd mating!
Stud owner felt the first mating was successful, however as her numbers were still good on the draminski (I have no knowledge of this device) we had the 2nd and 3rd. We scanned at 5 weeks, with the puppies looking as though they were dated to the earlier mating rather than the last.
She is currently showing zilch signs that labour will start anytime soon. A bit of a loose tum and sickness over the last few days, off food previously and now back to her greedy self. Stringy mucus after a wee. Absolutely no interest in nesting. Temperature has fluctuated 37.1-37.5 with 37 lowest. Pup movement calmed right down yesterday.
Do you think were ok to sit out? You do still get a temp drop with inertia don't you? I'm thinking about a vet check later today, although i've previously had a crazy experience with progesterone testing with another girl (there is an old thread!) so i'm slightly worried about re-using this test. Just feel stuck between a rock and a hard place at this moment!
Any advice to rest my dreadful nerves very much appreciated!

Would you recognise inertia? Looking into your bitches eyes does she have that vacant faraway look? You usually see pain in the eyes, and while I fully understand that most bitches look this way prior to contractions, it does sound very much like she's got all the other signs - loose poos, stringy mucous. And I know you aren't allowed to tell us the breed, but an indication of size would help as that makes a huge difference.

I did in a previous girl but that was inertia due to presentation, I have no experience with primary. I have read a fair bit about it, although it always states temp drop with no progression to stage 2 as an example. We have no temp drop, so i'm hoping were safe? She's a small breed, although currently very content just sleeping. If we hadn't had the 3rd mating I would definitely be calling time, I just don't know if i'm being a bit hasty?
Edited to add - I mean I have no experience of temp not dropping/going over due, rather than progression from stage 1 to stage 2.

My breed is small and I'm just being honest here. I would have a vet check, better to be on the safe side.
Just adding here. I have never, ever in 40+ years used temperature as a clue.
I have also never used temperature and never gone overdue. If I did I'd be sweating too.
My bitch is due on 13th October and funnily enough first time ever 3 matings but the 3rd was the best of the 3 so I'm working to that.
I think though I agree a vet check would do no harm.

Guys ive just started a new thread for advice. Any help appreciated if your around. Many thanks.

Temperature taking? - neither have I bothered but it will fluctuate during the final week or so. It's only once it has dropped and STAYED DOWN that you can probably expect whelping to begin within 24 - 48 hours. I have answered your second thread.

Hi I have bred for many years, and the longest overdue was 7 days (I was panicing ) and went to Vet every day for a week, the stud dog owner was not worried as she said she felt although the dog had mated her on days 12 and 14, he was not really that interested, and I had noticed that my 2 entire males and my other females had not taken much notice of her either
However 7 days after her 2nd mating she was flirting and the others were going mad too, if I had not had successful matings I would have taken her back then
On the 68 day she went into normal labour, and produced 8 healthy babies in quick time, all was fine she and babies thrived well
Unless mum is distressed, I would sit it out a little longer, temperature varies so much, I dont take too much notice if the bitch is well
Hope all goes well
