I have just been charged £25 for 100ml of frontline spray for harvest mites. This seems ridiculously expensive. Do you think they made a mistake and charged for the large bottle ?

Vetmedic is showing 100ml as £14.88 250ml is £24.92 plus you would need a presciption for either, I would go and quote some prices to them but did it include a consult?

Does Frontline still work for harvest mites?  I know it doesn't for fleas and ticks in most areas.  Thornit powder is good for harvest mites.

Frontline never worked on Harvest Mites when we suffered with these living up East.

This suggests that Spot-on doesn't work.

Re the charge, query it?

I have never used the spot on form of Frontline have and always used the spray (prescription only).

It has always worked for my lot, I only use it when needed and not continuously as a regular precautionary treatment.
Sorts out fleas although I can't remember when I last saw one though! and good with the Ticks.
The correct amount must be used and rubbed well into the coat, under tummy area, under arms and inside of back legs too.
Never had a problem. Walks, exercise and working on the South Downs.

For the record, we always found our dark tricolours were more affected by these wretched things, than the bicolours.   And they got inbetween the toes and the base of the whiskers on the muzzles.   AND ON ME!!!   I knew that as soon as I started itching, I had to look - and there they were.   I used some 'old fashioned' preparation, the name of which escapes me right now.   Thank goodness for not living in arable-farming countryside.   Now all we have to cope with are TICKS and last summer, fleas.

Benzyl benzoate?

Never liked the spot on, the spray goes all over and is more dilute so less likely to cause a reaction.

I have just bought a 500ml online for £43. My vet gave me a prescription for £9 so cost me £52 for 500ml. My Vet says she can't compete with online prices

OMG....last time I bought a bottle it was 25p!!

Sounds like a decent price if direct from the vets.  I think it's somewhere around £30 at mine.  Online will be cheaper though as has been said.

I think it was because it was such a long time ago....around 1979!
