Does anyone have any opinion about Harringtons which has "no dairy, no added wheat, no soya, no artificial colours or flavours" according to the label?

Sorry I don't know about the product but they need to be applauded for changing their advert so as to not showing the dog eating a bowl of food then going straight out for a walk. People from the bloat awareness fb group picked up  that their new advert originally showed this and complained as it increases risk of bloat ( or may do ) . The company within 24 hours change the original advert . At least one company that thinks and responds

After feeding my lot on Arden Grange for years, rearing 2 large litters on it and recommending to all my puppy owners, my oldie suddenly developed a bad allergy, with awful itching and biting at her skin. She looked awful and after numerous vet visits we came to the conclusion it was the AG. My daughter's friend fed her dog on Harringtons and looked very good on it, so I tried mine on the Lamb and Rice. They've been on it ever since. One of my puppies developed a bad stomach problem on the AG and so I recommended the Gluten free Harringtons to his owners and again he is doing very well on it. So I can only recommend it.

I've fed it and not had any complaints.

I found the percentage of animal derived ingredients  disappointingly low compared to similar foods, Simpsons, Arden Grange etc

I used Arden Grange for years, my fussy Golden never really liked it, Flatcoats have always done well on AG. Only have the goldie girl now and tried her on the Harringtons, she has never looked back and eats well now. I was concerned about the quality but I must say she looks really good on it, no digestive problems, super poos so I am happy with it.

Swopped to Harrington treats only. Still keeping the dry chappie biscuit but his now not so keen on the chappie tinned..... scratching not so much,  tum clearing up from sores from scratchings.  Wear in cone most of day and each night.  Road walks still re cut on paw.

I'm wondering what else to try for his food.I'm not keen on all dry kibble but not struck on all raw food...is there another tin option apart from chappie?

.is there another tin option apart from chappie?

I have used Butchers tins in the past - it doesn't seem to have quite as much 'added extras' - translate as junk - as some of the others.

When mine have been on tins, Butchers Tripe and other Butchers mixes have been my farourites Jules.

Mine has lily's kitchen on his kibble as he's not keen on it dry. It's very good quality but it's expensive (£2.15/tin just now) so he only gets a bit just to wet and tempt.

For tinned meat, which we add just a very small amount to the complete AG we use, we use Butchers Tripe mix.   And as my Basset kept having early morning bile attacks, I have been giving him a small amount of tinned Chappie last thing.  This he loves and has settled his tum down.

I haven't used Harringtons, but did at one point switch to Pooch & Co Tripe and Rice - because they do it in 15 kg bags unlike AG who reduced their bag size to 12 kg but not the price!!   I found it good and the hounds liked it, but in the end, went back to AG as I just felt, for skin, the AG Sensitive was better.   Not certain about that however as I'm getting licking and sore front legs (Basset).   Amongst his other problems just now.

But as always, not all food suits all dogs so it's really down to using what seems to work!

I was in our local supermarket just now and checked the label of a couple of recipes of this product.   Both list Maize as the first ingredient.   This would put me off buying it.   I prefer to see meat or fish as the main ingredient.

I have seen a Harrington's Salmon and Potato, and a Harrington's Grain Free, (I think it was at Sainsbury's), but they only seem to be in 2k bags.

The do the Salmon and Potato in 12k bags too. Still Maize is listed as the first ingredient though. On paper it isn't wonderful! That said my Golden loves it! She does have extras such as eggs and chicken wings so I don't worry!

Tried Harrison's but the paws weren't very impressed with it's flavor and refused to eat it.
Changed to Barking Heads Grain Free...Just have it delivered with my Tesco order...... Duck is the first ingredient ...My paws have allergies to corn and cereal grains which makes them itch like mad......this is a good one rating 4.5 out of 5 for nutrition

We used to use the butchers lean and tasty he disliked the tripe. After a hot summer and hotpots on tummy and a few dry spots on fur we looked at changing diet. He had licked and licked so fur a reddish tinge.

We dropped the biscuit bone treats to Harrington chicken roll with aloa Vera also liver treats.
We kept dry chappie and tried tinned chappie. He hates the original but likes chicken and rice. His been on leaf only walks last 8 days due to cut on pad so hasn't eaten usual amount. Sometimes given him scrambled eggs with dry chappie in am loved that. He does love pess/carrots with pasta too.

Skin really improved having the cone on last 7 days and new diet regime 26 days.... Wondering if I should see how he goes with tinned chappie  with mix of veg/egg. I've brought pilchards for him to try.

I've treated him with advocate and stronghold month apart as vet thought mites or diet allergy or grass allergy! Less red to his fur big difference.
