My year boy loves to go into the van and loves his cage. But I feel he doesn't like traveling, he is not sick or doesn't look stressed, but I feel when he gets out at a show he is not himself( although he shows well and loves his job). We have plenty of stops if traveling long distance and there is always fresh water in his cage. Anyone any ideas if I could do anything else his brother and parents are good travelers.

Many Thanks

Having lived with a breed not known to be good at car travel, I'd suggest your dog may be more upset with SHOWING (even if you think he does perform well) than getting to the show!!   If he hated the travelling he's show you by vomiting, for starters.   I'd be very careful about what you give him if you want him to show well - Rescue Remedy is about as far as I'd go with him but again, unless he's vomiting or otherwise upset in the car/van, I'd look to this having nothing to do with the journey!

Might he be picking up your vibes re going showing?

I had a hound who was terrible in the car until, picking up a grass seed which took forever to point, he had to go to the vet all the time.   Once this was resolved, he LOVED being in the car.   That was the one positive about that time.   So keep going out in the car - not necessarily only to a show.

I had a very car sick dog and I gave her the human "sea-legs" when we were taking her on holiday, my OH said he wasn't having her vomiting for 3 hours, she had 1 tablet an hour before travelling and was never sick again for the whole of her life.

He is a very huffy pup (a man thing lol) if he doesn't get the cage he wants he will not go into the van. I take him where every I go so he is always in the van(he huffys if he doesn't get) and I always make sure he goes some place fun like his swimming. I will keep at as his mum wasn't great but that was solved by putting her in a dark cage.
