Has anyone had pups arrive then a day or so later another one or two arrive safely? My friends dog had her first litter last night but today when i went to see her she most definately still felt full.she said the birth was awful pups arrived quite far apart( 4 of them) but she settled down after 4 and seemed finished and quite content,is eating and drinking normally. She disagrees with me and says if she did still have pups she would be unsettled and not eating etc but i know how my girls feel after having pups, deflated almost and i saw her girl the day before she had them and she was enormous and definately looked like she was having more than 4.Im worried her labour stopped with exhaustion. If she were mine id take her to vet just incase,my friend thinks theres no need.anyone experienced this?

I have heard of it happen, even after a C section, but myself had a dead pup arrive 36 hours after the last, but she was unsettled wanting to go out to pee frequently and strain, but vet was convinced that it was just the weight of the overstretched uterus on her bladder, and felt she was empty(not my usual vet but the emergency cover).

My girl started at 9am on the 15th and finished at 7am on the 16th. After pup 5 was born we were told she was empty and sent home. She had her dinner, a quick wash down and was fast asleep until she decided to pop out 6,7 and 8. Sadly seven was born sleeping. My point is that they might look finished but might not be. Everyone assured me she wouldn't eat or want to eat until she was through...she got through 6 tins of tripe and was still sniffling about for more! There may be a couple more in there....

Did your girl start pushing at 9am on15th or just start panting digging etc at that time?

Contractions started at 9 and pup was born at 10 but contractions were slow and there was a gap between - she was a very, very slow whelper. Comfortable throughout - it was me who was panicking. There was half hearted digging on the 14th around lunch time but no extra panting etc...she just went under the dining table and started pushing. I had no indicators like I had with my previous litter. I then took her to the whelping bed and she settled quickly. Prior to this she was determined to have them under the table.
