Hi guys, we're on day 14 after my girls second mating. She's started to have what looks like a milky brown discharge. It doesn't smell and she seems in perfect health. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Should I be concerned or is normal? Thanks for your help.

I'd be concerned! Although most of mine simply had less discharge after being mated to the end of their season, I had one who went back to producing a more blood-coloured discharge to the end of her season, but after that, nothing. I think you might be wise to see your vet. Thinking pyo here.

Hi My girl had brown discharge around day 18 from first mating (second had been 48 hrs later) it lasted about a week - not very much just the occasional bit when I wiped her after a wee (I always keep an eye on what going on in case of anything nasty!). We were frantic, she was well, no temperature eating well and her usual energetic self, the discharge was mucal, not smelly and infrequent.
when we had her home scanned at 33 days she was shown to be in pup with 5 live pups (she went on to have 4 wonderful babies - average litter for her breed)
I must admit when it happened to me I went through loads of previous posts on CDs to see if anyone had been through it before and if you go back far enough (I cant remember when) there are some threads dealing with the same topic with other people saying they had the same experience - discharge but not problems.
I would say that you know your girl best, if you are worried because she looks ill then check her with the vets always!
hope that helps
If this is the tail end of her season then I wouldn't be worried. Mine usually tail off to brown then sometimes yellow before going back to the opaque colour.
If however she has finishes bleeding and then started again she may have an infection. Saying that my last litter the bitch started to bleed at five weeks , brown discharge , but she went on to have a large healthy litter.
its to do with implantation of the embryos.your girl is pregnant.

The ONLY one I had with a discharge after being mated was one who had a more blood-coloured discharge to the end of her season but she had an uneventful pregnancy and apart from needing a C.Section, a really good litter of 9 puppies of whom we kept 3, came back with them and others to the UK where both of the bitches did well in the ring here, one taking a UK title and the other her stud book qual. I couldn't show the male as his bite had 'gone' by the time they came out of quarantine, but a fellow-breeder did use him (with full knowledge of how his bite was - which he never passed on btw) and he is back of a number of hounds here now. Most of my other girls, mated or not, simply had less and less discharge through the final week and it wasn't significantly coloured.
Hi Guys, I thought I would give an update. The brown discharge carried on for about 5 days in total. Today we are on day 30 and my girl was scanned and is pregnant and carrying 4 puppys.

Be ready for 5 or 6 pups...lol
Hi,
I'm new to breeding and I'm having same issue with my girl. She was mated day 10 and 12. And last night day 13 I noticed that her discharged had changed to a dark colour almost brown (no funny smell). She's fine, eating, drinking, playing, no high temp. But I got concerned.
Should I take her to vets right away or wait a couple of days and see how she's doing?
Many thanks

That's quite normal, old blood.
