I have been dipping my toe (and his lordship's paw) into showing. We have been going to ringcraft classes since March, which he absolutely loves and we have been to four shows. At three we had no joy, and at one he won the puppy class and was third in junior, which was a real thrill! However we have a problem in that he shows no interest in food so whilst all the other dogs are standing up straight like good little soldiers, my laddo is nosying around at everyone else and ignoring me and the treat. I have tried liver cake, cheese, salami, sausage, chicken, beef stick you name it we've tried it. I know he's still young (10 months on Wednesday) and we started late (at 6 months) and that we both need more practice but I wondered if anyone else has encountered this or has suggestions. He does seem to enjoy the experience, I just don't think I'm doing him justice.

What about a toy? A small fluffy one or a ball?

I store my treats in a pot with a clove of garlic so that they all have a really strong smell and that does seem to get the attention of the one dog who is not so bothered about treats. I also use the squeezy cheese tubes - primula type - as you can give the tiniest little bit for the dog to lick from the tube and it is clean and easy to have in a pocket - I don't show though so not sure if that would be a practical alternative in the ring.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will give both a try.
