I've been wearing for a week and a half, puppies are 4 weeks and 1 day old.  All appears to be going well except I haven't seen any of them drink from the water bowl.  I've shown them where it is but all they seem to do is use it as a foot bath or toilet   There is plenty of pee so I'm not worried, just wondered.

Mine don't drink properly until around four weeks plus. I wean onto very soaked puppy food so the water content is high in their food and they don't feel the thirst... Obviously they are also topping up off Mum regularly as well. When I start decreasing the amount of soaking as their teeth come through and Mum is more reluctant to let the little needles feed then they will drink more from the water bowl :)

I always use a syringe or small spoon to get mine started seem to pick it up quite quickly after that

I gave a bowl of goats milk to tempt them to get them onto the swing of things, once that worked I switched it for water and bobs your uncle it worked out good for them

I do the same as suejaw but I slowly up the water amount and lessen the milk :)

I use a road refresher bowl the small one for their indoor pen and the large one outdoors.

This seems to stop them from bathing in it.

I use a non tip stainless steel bowl and they soon get the hang of it, when they need it they will drink

They are probably getting enough 'liquid' from their food at the moment especially if you are feeding it in a porridge consistency.   I can't remember when mine first started to show interest in the water, but as advised, you should always provide a shallow dish of water, once they are onto solids.   I never leave a dish in the box overnight.   Just in case.

And mine would have a mid-morning, mid-afternoon and last thing drink of warmed goats milk - all liquid so making the need for water less.   And initially with weaning, most of their nourishment would still be coming from mum.   So it would really only be later on that they'd actually NEED water.
