Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Bedtime "snack" for puppy

Hi any suggestions as to what would be best to give my pup for a bedtime snack.he is just over 4 months old.

I have just changed him to three meals a day instead of four.  He is now fed at 7am 1pm and 7pm which means his last meal is an hour earlier than before.  He  has always been really good at night, sleeps in the lounge (not crated) and I never hear a peep until I get up at 6.45am.  However he is now waking at 6.00am and is really hungry.
My old dogs used to have a Bonio at bedtime but these say for adult dogs and also dont really want to introduce wheat into his diet. He is fed in Burns lamb and rice.
thanks in advance.

Dried tripe sticks as long as they are the pure tripe ones

How about going back to 4 meals a day for a couple if months? Enjoy your puppy.

Thanks Treacle.  Think I will do that and maybe just make the last meal a bit smaller.

My boy started upchucking in the early hours, just bile.  He was really hungry for his breakfast (usually given at around 7 am) and although they have a biscuit (usually Bonio or Morrisons own) when they go into their crates last thing, I started feeding him a small amount of tinned Chappie before bed too.   So far he's had no upchucking, and no grumbling tummies overnight (early hours) either.

Mine are now 6 and 7 years, and fed breakfast around 7 am, and the second meal before 5 pm.   This routine seems to work, for mine.

With those puppies of my main breed, at 4 months, I'd often give a late evening extra meal and for sure, the newly weaned pups had a milky drink last thing (goats milk, warmed) so they went to bed with a 'full' tummy.

My old two were on exactly the same routine as yours Mamabass. Breakfast at 7am and second meal at 5pm with a Bonio at night.
They died aged 12 and 13 and after having had all those years of calm well behaved adult dogs its amazing how much I have forgotten about puppyhood.  Sometimes I feel like a newbie all over again.  Happy days.
