Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Day 44 - Should I be concerned??
- By gsdowner Date 29.05.16 13:11 UTC
We are 44 days post 2nd mating.

Today my girl seems really uncomfortable, hot and panting. She is quite hard round the waist and ribs area and has a strange farty/fishy smell. The fishy smell is very similar to how she smells during her seasons after she's been licking her foof to keep it clean.

She has eaten her breakfast, is drinking and toileting fine and seems happy in herself. I don't remember my other bitch having this but then she is the dog equivalent of a larger lout and doesn't bother too much about her personal 'house keeping'.  Should I be concerned?

Have you checked her temperature?
- By gsdowner Date 29.05.16 18:08 UTC
No I haven't - I'm not a temperature checker usually :)

I managed to find a converter from Fahrenheit to Celsius, and in Celsius it works out to 38.4°.  Which is just fine and perfectly normal!
One worry less!

She seems happier in herself this morning and more settled :) Will keep an eye on her and you all posted.

I gave a fur on rabbit meal last night and she has been for a large poo this morning so if that were the issue - they should be cleared out now :)

What on Earth is a "fur on rabbit meal"?
- By furriefriends Date 30.05.16 10:44 UTC

Mine all dine on whole rabbit, voles, mice and the odd pheasant, all of which wander into our garden and sometimes pay the penalty, keeps their insides regular even if the poo is sometimes a bit strange!

Mine get the heads and ribcages as we get the legs and loin
- By gsdowner Date 30.05.16 21:42 UTC
mine won't eat the heads but are happy to crunch anything else. However, one of my girls will only eat one if it is quartered for her :) They will not eat pigeon or wild duckbut love chinese water deer, pheasant and wild boar!
