Those of you who use hydrotherapy pools - Is there anything special I should put on my dog afterwards to protect from the chlorine? Am wondering maybe human sun/sea/swim shampoo and then conditioner spray?
She's a red border collie and is shown so I need to reduce the ginger as much as possible!

Thanks

It's been a while since my last dog had hydrotherapy so things may have changed. After the swimming they would shampoo and rinse the dog off really well, then dry with a blaster (golden retriever so a lot of drying needed). I presume they were using a suitable shampoo, but didn't think to ask. It was lovely having a nice clean sweet smelling dog every week.

My two westies go swimming twice a week at hydrotherapy (pool and water-treadmill) they absolutely love it.  There is nothing wrong with either of them - they are going for an activity to do combined with keeping fit, socialising with other dogs, and keeping the weight off my girl who has been a barrel since she was spayed and then had her cataracts done.  They are 9 and 11 - they are rinsed before going in and washed really well with clean water and dried with a blaster after swimming - no soap.  They have both had skin problems and allergies.  They have had no reaction on their skin due to the chlorine. My girl had a little cyst on her neck that wouldn't stop coming back from a blocked sweat gland and that has reduced and disappeared.  And .... ALL of their staining from their faces and feet has completely gone.  They have had no yellowing to their coats at all - they are bright white all over - and their coats haven't gotten soft - they have been going for a year now.  I think it is just something you have to keep any eye out for and ensure the chlorine is washed off with plain water really well afterward each time.
