hi could someone help i took my dog to the vet today and had a scan to see if she was pregnant the vet said she could see structures I said she was about six weeks pregnant the vet said structures with small for six weeks so we are having an xray in the next couple of weeks so the vet can see how many she's having or see if her body tea sorbs them does this mean she is at at the Moment? Thank you in advance

Why does it matter?  What will you do differently, if you know that she has pups or not?  And even if you're told she has none, you will still be on the look out in case she has one in there and it wasn't accurate scan/x-ray. 

Personally, I wouldn't expose unborn puppies to x-rays....

If she's going to reabsorb, I'd suggest that is more likely to happen around the 5 week stage.   We had one who at that stage of her pregnancy appeared to be carrying a reasonable load.   After that, and I don't do scanning, she just didn't get any bigger.  Yes by 7 weeks I could see some movement so knew she had something there, but by the time she was due, nothing happened.   So I took her in for examination and yes, x-ray (the puppies should be okay with this if done pretty much at the time labour should begin) and it showed just the one.    She was big (female puppy) and sitting there so a C.Section had to be done.   In truth there was no sign of there having been more puppies (and she had no nasty discharge at the time I thought something was going on).

By 7 weeks you should see puppies moving around so frustrating as it is, I'd just wait and let her get to no more than a couple of days after her due date at which point if she's still not producing, see your vet.

Find a better scanner (not  vet), someone more knowledgeable/experienced should be able to tell you how many there are, how advanced they are for their age. To me, waiting without knowing would be impossible. At least this way, you would be prepared. You may see movement of pups at 7 weeks but it gives you no idea how many there are and how developed they are.
