Hi I'm new here and was hoping I could get some advice please.
I have a 9 month old bully that was sadly orphaned a few weeks ago due to his owner passing away. I've taken ownership of him, he is a wonderful lad very healthy and playful.
I just want to know what's the best diet for him? I know his owner used to feed him bakers and fresh chicken. I know from previous experience with dogs that bakers is not the best food to give.
So I was hoping for some advice in regards to his diet of what to feed and how much to feed. I'm not sure if he's a little overweight too, I've had him on the scale and he weighs 3 and 1/2 st. He is a big lad!

Any advice would be more than welcome and appreciated

Kind regards
Sarah

I only feed raw and wpuld highly recommend  it for you boy.there are number of good books and fb groups to help.also u might like to join one of the bulldog groups as well. If u don't want to go raw consider a grain free kibble.  Something like orijen or millies wolfheart

If you can't find his waist or feel his ribs easily then he is more than likely too fat, and with the short face and compromised breathing you do not want him carrying extra weight to make things harder for him.

You can not really say what weight he should be, as even in my breed where the size is the same to within an inch the dogs can vary by what weight is right for them, some being just right heavier or lighter and also how much they eat to keep their correct weight.

I would feed half the recommended amount on the bag of food if he is overweight as chances are he will actually only need between half to 2/3rd's, as I have rarely found any of the dogs I know or have owned need any where close to what the packaging says.

After a couple of weeks you should be able to see if he is loosing any weight and once he is trim you can adjust accordingly.
