Topic Dog Boards / General / LKA spectator dogs

My young dog has been selected to compete in the inter regional obedience at Crufts this year .....he's been to crufts once before, working on a trade stand so I know he won't be worried by the hustle and bustle, but I would like the chance to work on his attention/ focus in similar places before the big day. I've seen that LKA is allowing spectator dogs and since we are fairly close,  I thought that would be a good opportunity....plus he now obviously needs a smart new collar and lead and bed for his bench..... However, after having a quick look at the schedule, it's not clear whether we need to take his full details (KC name and number ) or whether it's just informal for the public? Anyone know? Thanks

No you won't need any KC details, they just ask you to fill in a form with your name etc. and confirming that he will be kept under control, or something like that, only takes a couple of minutes.

Has the Not for Competition (NFC) entry been stopped - it was always necessary to enter a dog via the entry form before the closing date for entries, as NFC to be able to take them into a Champ.show.

Add -  "SPECTATOR DOGS
Unentered dogs from 4 months of age may be brought into the show. A brief form
MUST be completed at the  entrance and a fee of £5 paid (cash only)"   From Higham Press website.

Seems things have changed since I was last showing.   Hum.   So do you mean to tell me ANYBODY with a dog can walk in provided it's of age, and they pay an entry fee?    How does that work re numbers?  And are they in a separate area, on benches?   Or with their breed?

NFC hasn't been stopped and I just noticed that LKA are only charging £5 for NFC, which is the same price as spectator dogs, usually they charge about £12 for NFC.
If you enter NFC you get a bench, spectator dogs don't.

I have brought my other two quite often as it's better/cheaper than paying for dog sitter.

Anyone can come in but I don't think many people are interested in doing so unless they are going to be there anyway and want to bring other family dogs rather than leave at home, it's a brilliant idea in my opinion.
