Well things sure have changed here at the Walton 's....

I have worked hard to change things and am striving hard not to go over to the dark side, we have moved house and one on my girls is in whelp!

My issue at the moment is that she seems to have very runny stools, to the point where little blobs just drop out. She is quite big but not rotund and the scanner stopped counting after seeing 7 feotuses. I am letting her out frequently and quite late at night and early in the morning but she is still having accidents.

I'm not worried about the brand new carpet as I was aware of what we were getting in to but she gets very distressed once she realises I have seen the mess. I'm not scolding, I am not upset, I talk soothingly and walk her (walk alongside, not drag or physically remove) out of the room before I start cleaning it. What else can I be doing?

We have gone 100% raw and holistic so she is not loose due to worming paste. Can I add some rice to meals to help her? I gave a bone heavy meal last night but same issues this morning. She is a greedy dog normally and I think she is gulping her food and irritating her innards. No blood or mucus, nasties in the poo.

I'm definitely no expert, hope some of them on here will be able to come and help. I think both the move and her pregnancy are likely culprits.
Ideas I have are: bone broth for hydration and nutrition, more green tripe - gentle, nutritious,  a probiotic - something like kefir or live yoghurt also possibly slippery elm - I think it's OK for a pregnant bitch but I'd check first.

What meats are you feeding, has there been a change?

A particular meat or source of that meat may disagree with her, are you perhaps feeding too much offal such as liver?

Parasites, like Giardia?  Infectious causes like Campylobacter?  Vet visit!!!

No changes in the feeding or supplier. We switched to 100% raw in may. She is getting bulmers beef, lamb, turkey, duck, rarely a couple of turkey necks. I buy chicken and pork from the supermarket. She can't have tripe so she doesn't get any. I also give tinned sardines, mackerel,  kefir and bone broth.

I have lowered her normal rations of kidney and liver and don't even give in every meal as she started to refuse meals about 7 weeks into her pregnancy. Not exposed to other dogs or even dog populated areas anymore because we have moved to a house attached to playing fields only accessible to the school they belong to and 3 houses with access gates.

I have put on a pot of bone broth (thank you, had forgotten about that). Will call the vet for advise and possibly a visit.

This morning she had a normal poo (gave her boiled rice and chicken last night) but a mucus type, yellowy blob happened after breakfast. She also has started to get the stringy discharge from her vulva making delivery seemingly closer so I don't think she will go to 63 days as she did last time.

We brought her in to the bedroom last night and she was comfortable, no mess this morning. Could she just be uncomfortable? She's panting vocally and obviously full to bursting.we have been told to expect a large litter.

Glad she is doing a bit better today.

Re tripe- have you tried it from different animals/presentations eg beef/lamb, mince/chunks, room temperature/frozen?  It's THE great food - probiotic, gentle on tums, and 1:1 calcium: potassium ratio. I'd also chuck the rice. Lightly boiled chicken and then the cooled juice is great.

I'd go with Brainless too - a vet's visit - with the caveat of being aware that many vets are anti raw.

I can't comment at all about her breeding status - haven't and never will breed - I only read these posts as I can, and do, learn a lot from them.

Thank you debbo. She cannot tolerate any type of tripe. We have tried both beef and lamb, although I shall be having a pig slaughtered for christmas and will try the paunch, if I can.

She is totally fine this morning and simply closing the bedroom door has solved matters as she is asking to go out and much happier.

I rang the vet and he wasn't happy for me to take her in. There has been a break out of ring worm and something else around that area and he didn't want us to risk it. He is very pro raw so was happy for us to continue as we are. He advised I make the portions smaller so I will go to 6 meals to ease the strain on her tummy, to give her boiled chicken juice and to lower the offal even more if I can. The bone broth is helping.

That all sounds really positive and your vet sounds good too.
