Pups 9 days old, feeding well and putting on weight, mums just developed a lump around one teat, I have been expressing and placing a hot flannel on the lump, removing some of the yellowish discharge, anything else I can/should be doing? Should I be contacting emergency vets for antibiotics? Mum seems well in herself

Thanks in advance

At this stage I keep on with the hot flannels and massage the discharge out.... Doesn't hurt pups to feed off it.

If whole gland becomes swollen ,hard and red then off to vets but at this stage I would plod on with massage and heat to break up the lump.

Would you let her rest as well?! I've done an hour or so kneading the lump and using hot flannels, I don't want to over stress her as she seems quite comfortable at the moment. Also the discharge is now a clear colour

Yes,don't over do it. If the discharge is not not thick and darker yellow sounds like you are going in the right direction. Keep pups feeding from it, I would hot flannel and massage it little and often rather than working on it for a long time...... Just keep breaking it down to expel it.
