Hello,
Please could I have any info on dog crates,ie where to buy a good one.I myself would never have thought of using one years ago but ive read nothing but good things about them.We are buying a Bullmastiff pup shortly so any info or tips would be great.Thanks.

Hi there

Pet shops & on-line sites sell all sizes of crates. Not everybody, sorry, every dog thinks they're brilliant - my Vizsla pup hated his beyond belief and became very distressed, vocal and wet every time he was put in it - crate disposed off after ten days of hell for the pup and one happy, dry, sleep all night, contented pup was immediately (and I mean, immediately) discovered! Anyway, others have good tales to tell of crates, so its an individual choice. Good luck.

Same here ..I think it depends on the animal...Hudson hated his and we went through hell with well meaning folk telling us to put up with the noise and he will give in eventually :) After 5 weeks of no sleep we gave up and he slept through the night in the living room with no problems.

However ...when I get my next dog I will try again as I think they can be a godsend

As Shirley says, pet shops do them, some of the large Garden centres with pet depts do as well and loads of places online.
Just remember that your Bullmastiff will get quite large so you'll need a big cage!!! i use one for my 7 mth rotty and he loves it, only down side is that it has a metal tray which was noisy when he moved so we bought a pack of vynl floor tile and covered the bottom!!!!!!!! :D

Hi,

I recently bought a larger than I would normally use one from a company called Moncaster. it was very reasonably priced, for the size I have which is the size my Doberman friends use, it was Under £70. this is for 28 inches wide, 42 inches long by 30 inches high. It has two doors, a metal tray, and black powder finish.

If you put the company name in a search engine, or look in the dog papers you should be able to find their details.

PS
The large crate was used to ensure two dogs would be more comfortable when left in the hotel room on my trip with them to Holland for the World Show.
