Do they elaborate on 'blows them up'?

I've fed horse meat but it's Dartmoor stock. You have to be careful feeding horse I think due to bute, the source is important. Not sure what they mean really. I was really impressed with the horse meat I used.

Hunts will collect dead stock to feed to hounds and that includes horsemeat.

I would think the only thing to worry about would be vaccines etc as horses do seem to get a lot

Thank you for the link and info that's what I thought. The fact that this guy said you shouldn't feed minced beef to pups, so gave me chicken from Nutriment and none of my dogs would eat it. Thanks again

Horse meat, how I would love to have a supply for my lot!!

I did find a link that I posted to the "pet forums" site that was selling a selection of different animal meats including HORSE. I just found it a bit expensive at the time though.

Horse meat is as natural and safe to feed as any other meat product. We just don't slaughter horses over here anymore, what a shame!

The hunt kennels will collect fallen horses and use horse meat amongst many other fallen animal products, you never hear of a sick pack of hounds after being fed horse meat.
(what a load of nonsense)

With regards to medications being in the animals system I can not comment, I will ask at our local hunt kennels next time in passing, I will also put the question to my vet who is also a raw feeder!

Puppies.  I always rear puppies on raw meat and will quite happily use beef with absolutely no ill effetcs. My puppies by six weeks of age are used to a huge number of different meat types and also raw bones too.

I love Horse Meat for myself.  with us having native Horse breeds, that need to be made commercially viable to survive it's ridiculous that we don't utilise it and you have people rearing ostrich etc.

Thanks Wait Ok,
This person was having a pup of mine but pulled out at the last second(they are all in new homes)but moaned because I was mixing kibble/raw as only he was raw feeding on nutriment but pups would not eat the stuff he gave me. And they thrived on the raw mince and kibble and now being rude as the person asked as his is a PitBull x Stafford. Some people just so blinkered. Thanks again

!!###**!!! Some people have no idea.

I not only feed a huge assortment of different meats to my puppies but also feed a small amount of grain free kibble so that if a new owner needs to go for kibble only the puppies tummies are well adapted and can tolerate the changeover without any upsets.
Kibble and raw togeather do not cause any problems!

I do the same with pups and recently added raw to my adults and have seen a nice improvement.I give kibble for breakfast and raw mince and bone for evening meal it works for mine.

I know people who feed raw and feed horse meat no problem.i don't only because I am funny about it.which makes no sense when you think mine have  pork rabbit with fur lamb venison other game beef duck and so one even squirrel is available at times. I wouldn't worry

Having fed raw for nearly nine years I think the kibble and raw argument will run and run much like the should they have fruits and veg.horses for courses lol

Wondering if some of the raw feeders could give me some advice

Im not a raw feeder, recently I felt i needed to change the AM feed (appx 5/6am), around 4-6 hours prior to main exercise because of my dogs age, I thought it better to give something easy to digest & light in the stomach. I changed the am feed to brown rice & those tinned pilchards in brine >which i washed to get the brine off<.

She seems fine with it, - chicken would be an alternative but it will not paste when mixed & she might start picking it out & leave the rice, so i just stick to pilchards. I only keep the remaining pilchards in water until the following morning & then throw the remainder away.

if you want something easy to digest green tripe is good ,raw , not cooked

Yes it's good, i use it as an additive with below 12 months, I use tyo get paunches in the days when we couild get them. i think leaner fish + rice are as good & less fats than tripe, the difference in whats best if anything would be no more than academic.

nesstaffy, it looks as if we are loosing the reason for this post.

However if any one is looking for a supplier of horse meat in the uk I found this supplier; "KIEZEBRINK.uk ltd" . They have a wide range of animals and meats available.
