Hi everyone I would love your advice.  My bitch was born with a bold patch on her side which the vet was never worried about. Later on I bread her and she took but reabsorbed, then she started to get bold patches a couple of months later . The vet said it was hormonal. All the hair has grown back apart from one bit near the bald but she was born with. She is back in season and my stud dog owner has told me that hormonal hair loss is linked to reproductive problems and she might reabsord everytime. Has anyone been in the same situation?  Thank

My advice would be to get in touch with a repro vet who could then complete tests on here at the right time to ascertain if she does have a hormonal problem which is going to cause her any problems getting pregnant

Sounds like Underactive hormone and the stud dog owner is right that it is liked to infertility, which is probably a good thing, as the risk is it may be passed onto future generations.

As for your bitch herself she should have a full Thyroid panel done, and then she can be put on thyroid replacement to rectify her problem.

I'd certainly not be breeding from her.

Many dogs over 6 or so start to have lower levels of thyroid, but one that is like this in her breeding years in my opinion should not be bred from as you may end up perpetuating the problem.
