My boy's breeder taught me how to do it with fingers. I'm not a groomer and have no skill whatsoever at anything that involves an artistic eye let alone knives or scissors so I didn't expect to be able to do anything myself - though as it turned out I could do the handstripping the way I was shown with just fingers - but I just chose to only do it a little mixed in with daily grooms as I was blessed to find an awesome groomer who can do it for me along with teeth scaling etc (she used to be a dental hygienist) and any scissor work every month or so and I just keep it up inbetween full grooms.
My breeder, has a video which shows her handstripping and grooming a westie that was really helpful for me to refer to (and my groomer to borrow to check out how I wanted things done so far as the head, ears etc as I was super fussy). I expect the Dachsie breeders have a video somewhere of one of the breeders grooming one in a similar way but if you get stuck you can always look at the one I had. Here is the link to it online somewhere with a preview clip .

I think the principles of hand stripping will likely be the same as she does hand strip dachsunds aswell
