I have two puppies going to Europe, one to Belgium and the other to Italy. They have had their first vaccines and are booked in for their second. Then they will have their passport and Rabies jab done at 3 months old . Do they have to wait a further 21 days before travelling or can they leave England immediately after the Rabies vaccs? Or could they travel any earlier? I have two very excited families who want them as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance .

If they are travelling through France, my understanding is that they must wait the 21 days after the date of the rabies vaccination. I am told that they don't check but when I was sending a pup out to Switzerland last year, I wasn't prepared to risk it and the pup was allowed to fly out direct (in the cabin of the plane) at 8 weeks old.

I think they can leave the country but they wouldn t be able to return until 21 days after the vaccination. Just my understanding.

No that's incorrect since the changes/harmonisation of travel rules, in January 2012, Pets travelling between any EU countries have to have pet passport and wait 21 days from Rabies jab, including Ireland.

Brainless is correct I sent a pup to France in Jan and she had to wait till her 21 days was up.
