I've herd a few people say that bitch puppies are more likely to take after their dad, and dog puppies are more likely to take after their mum. Especially in their appearance.

Is there any truth in this or is it an old wives tale? I am not a breeder but interested in thoughts.....

Old wives tale, though there is some truth to the fact if your breeding to keep a god bitch then you need to use a male who comes from a good bitch line, if his mother grandmother were not so good you can bet your bottom dollar you will not get bitches as good as him.

I've got one bitch...you could mate her to a cat and she would produce copies of herself.
Luckily she's rather nice.

Old wives tale for sure.  You mates 'em up and wait and see.
