Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / When should I cut my puppy's feed from 3 to 2 meals daily?
- By goat Date 25.04.15 11:41 UTC
Hello
I just wondered at what stage is the lunch time feed dropped for a puppy so that they are having two meals a day ie breakfast and dinner?
My Dachshund pup is now 5 months and I am not sure when to do this.
Thank you for any help.

Generally with mien it is when they are clearing the meals they get in an instant so can eat more in one go, usually around 6 months, especially fi they are a bit chubby, then I will take the opportunity to slightly cut back the total for the day, otherwise spread the current food over two meals instead of three..

I would suggest 5/6 months, if by feeding your young dog 2 meals a day it still manages to eat enough to maintain good bodily condition this will be fine.
My puppies are always ready at this age to come down to 3 feeds but still eat the same daily amount in the 2 feeds.
