Hello I'm new to the forum:smile:
My dog is possibly 52 days pregnant (hopefully) , her pregnant signs are , swollen nipples , clear discharge , rounded tummy and ribcage , decreased appetite , being fussy eating , sleeping more and being really clingy .
I also own the stud dog and they had two ties

Are these good signs for a definite pregnancy:slim:

Maybe, but could be a false pregnancy too. Have you had her scanned ?

Best bet is to get her scanned to be sure

She was palpitated and vet was sure she was , can I scan this late or would it be better to xray:smile:

Not an X-ray, don't want to harm the pups if they are there. You need a scan, either vets or there are many people around the UK who do mobile scanning

I know they x-ray a lot of pregnant bitches abroad, but personally I would never even consider subjecting a pregnant bitch to that. It would require at least sedation. A scan can be done at any time and is totally stress free. A scan will also tell you if there are live puppies, which of course an x-ray cannot.

Have you got a breed known for small litters? I have a bitch on day 50 today and she's so big she can hardly move, she can no longer jump, her teats are huge -but we do know from the scan that she has at least ten pups inside her, possibly even more. I would expect very obvious signs at day 52 unless it was just one or two pups.

I'm one of the people that has relied on x-rays at times.  Saved a bitches life once.  I was lucky that she obeyed commands and was x-rayed with no sedation.

It found 2 pups in the same uterine horn jammed side by side.  The vet was able to operate immediately and both pups were saved (identical twins.)

I've been fortunate that I've never had a dog need sedation, but 100% can say that x-rays don't harm pups that are this far along.

I was x-rayed myself when pregnant -and didn't know I was. When I found out I panicked, but was told it was no more harmful than wearing a luminous watch as it was just a one off. So it would be the sedation and stress that would worry me about a bitch -but your case of course Jean was different as there it was for other reasons than just to determine pregnancy.

I've seen many a foreign x-ray picture posted on Facebook with numbers added next to each little canine skeleton and the pups have all turned out fine, but I really can't see my own bitches being happy with it.

Hi she s a large breed , to me she looks pregnant but i no phantoms can have the same signs .
I'll definitely phone my vets tomorrow for a scan.
She's never had a phantom before so fingers crossed she's pregnant .☺
