I am so cross, surly something can be done, I've been having a little look around the dog ads and came across one well three actually... all from the same so called breeder two bitches of one breed due on the same date and another bitch of a different breed due on the same date.... as in the past I've had a litter myself spent the first 2/3 weeks sleepin on the sofa or floor and worrying constantly until they all leave for their new homes, cryin when they go coz they are part of the family.. it annoys me that there could be about 20 puppy's around the same time and there is no way you can look after them properly..Grrrr rant over....

This may or not be as bad as it seems. Things are rarely as Black and White as that.  What is the quality of the breeders stock, do they health test, do they prove their dogs in some field (show or work), in other words what are their reasons for breeding over and above producing pups to sell.

I have in the past had two litters at the same time (2006) and on another occasion 3 1/2 weeks apart (2011). In both instances one of the litters was conceived after travelling abroad, so a bit more of a risk re likely success.

Sometimes it works out that way with bitches coming in season early or late, the age they are the age of the studs to be used and their availability, there are other years when I did not breed at all.

It is incredibly hard work.  With the first instance doing two of everything at once, and with the second occasion the puppy rearing lasting 3 - 4 months instead of the usual 8 - 12 or so weeks.
I was going to mate two bitches this year, the older champion bitch who had already missed twice last year, and it was time for the youngster to have her first litter at three.

In the event instead of the older one coming in season 5 or 6 weeks after the younger, as in last two seasons she came in a week after!!!

As she will be 7 in July (I prefer not to breed after 7), I have decided not to mate her and she will be spayed after having just two litters.  A shame as she is a top quality bitch.

I decided that I just would not be able to enjoy the puppies if I went for the two litters together.

Now the situation you have found may in fact be someone breeding to the max for commercial reasons, or maybe several family members are involved in the two different breeds, or the breeder may have similar considerations as above.

Certainly a breeder who single handedly regularly bred on this scale I would wonder about their motives for breeding, and question if they could provide the level of care to them all.

Remember in some breeds litters of 12 or so pups are common where in other breeds that would be two (as in mine) or three litters.

They don't health test, don't show or work any of the dogs, I no who this fella is and they hav not long sold off about three or four of another breed that they no longer want.. it just makes me cross.
And I understand people who breed for showing and working purpose and I defo admire you for all the hard work.. its not easy   x

I have 2 litters due within 6 days. The girls tend to come into season together and both girls have not had litters for 18 months. For one of my girls it is her last litter and I do not want to leave it any longer (she is 5 years old). The other one missed on her last season. Not a problem for me. I do health test and show. I do sometimes rehome retired breeding girls.

It's such hard work though isn't it two litters together, not something I'd ideally choose but sometimes it's the way the cards play out.
