I have had a long coated chihuahua for a year now. He is a lovely little boy but very yappy and a nightmare when he sees another dog. He just goes absolutley nuts and barks so much you cant hear yourself think. He doesnt stop until the dog is out of his sight. He attacked my staff when he first came through the door but is ok with the other dogs now, although I took in a rescue lurcher about a month ago and after a day of barking and going for her he settled down. Ive tried to distract him with treats but its like hes not in the zone and nothing stops him. I keep him on the lead unless I know there arent any dogs around. Any ideas on trying to stop this would be appreciated.

Can u take her out on her own to an area where dogs are but att at distance where she can see digs but isn't fearful. Every time she let a dog pass in her sights without barking treat her. U nerd to work at her pace and distance. You are trying to reinforce that seeing dogs  good things happen it may take a while until you can reduce the distance. Also a local training class may be able to help. If you can just sit in the class treating her when she doesn't bark.a good apdt trainer should be able to help you work with this. Clicker training may be good too

I'm going to try to take him on his own to the field to try it but he barks even if the other dog is a dot in the distance and doesn't take a break from barking. It's really starting to spoil our walks and if he's near one of mine when he's performing he'll go for them too. People seem to find it amusing, this little dog that thinks it's a Rottweiler but they probably wouldn't if he was Rottweiler size lol

I have one that can be similar.start at home with getting him to focus on you with treats. That might help before you introduce having dogs round.this could take a while so don't worry. He needs to she you as all bounty full and then she. A dog appears wow that's great I get a treat. Focusing is always good to teach and can be skne sitting down at home
