Just got my old fella 11 3/4 year old Gsd back from vets .Had bloods & urine checked as  I need to get him on meds for arthritis. They all came back fine ,altho He has started to lose weight lately,so vet said to change his diet for a month,
He has been raw fed for past 4years +,she wants him on a senior dried food ,
please can anyone suggest one that they have had good results with ?

If it aint broke don't fix it just up the amount of food he gets a bit

Agree with brainless don't change from raw just up the amounts. Tripe is good for weight gain. As for senior kibbles commercial pressure and probably the vet knows little about raw and is happier with something they know

Well as all bloods etc are good, then your feeding/care are fine.  I have found as they get into old age you do sometimes need to up the food a bit as their digestion becomes less efficient.  Regardless of food type.

Bet that was a fun consult codysmum. I had a similar one telling me that my dig must be shot of something as I raw fed at this point no bloods had been done. Mine is a nearly 8 gsd and I'd staying raw

How are his teeth?
Often oldies lose weight when they have a sore mouth.
Something softer and more palatable may help

I actually started a Goldie on a raw diet at 13. He lived until just over 17, so it didn't do him any harm. I'd keep him on raw. You could always try a senior complete raw such as Nutriment (http://www.nutriment.co/senior/) although I do think a lot of these "age-appropriate" diets are just a marketing ploy.

Stick with your raw feeding!!  As suggested add some green tripe or just up the amount you are feeding.

Very few of our vets are nutritionalists and like many of us they are conditioned into believing that grain based kibble foods are best. Oh how wrong!

My own dog is fed on Iams 'Mature & Senior' - she has been fed on Iams since weaning, 12 years 2 months old today.
The vid clips below concentrate only on the fitness in the context of her age (breed extreme) & the environments of the clips, they may give you some thoughts!?
The clips are shot one year apart to the month, Jan 2015 & Jan 2014. I have no reason to consider any other food, both vid clips below within this past year & they say more than I can.

I too feed raw but have had to put my springer on a kibble through the winter as I can't afford to feed her enough to keep the weight on! She was eating more than my 2 GSD's food put together daily and only just maintaining.  So we did a bit of research and found a company called Millies Wolfheart.  As close as raw in a kibble basically.  Well, I mix these biscuits in with her summer amount of food and it worked wonders. She has kept the weight this winter.
She is coming up for 8 yrs which isn't particularly old for her breeding.

Many vets see the result of incorrect raw feeding, so generally speaking, recommend a 'complete' diet rather than that.  Not to necessarily support the vet, but this is a fact - too many people don't do enough research when using a 'raw diet' with the result the dog doesn't thrive and ends up with a vet.

I have mine, now, on Pooch & Co's Tripe and rice and for sure, they seem to be putting on more weight than I wanted     But good news with that is I can feed them less!!!  Prior to that, they were doing well on Arden Grange's Sensitive.   I had one on this after he continued to have poor stools, intermittently, following coming to us with Giardia.   This is a fish and potato food plus all the extras they need.   I just felt it was time to try to get him (she has the same because it's more convenient) onto something different.   So far, so good.

I never heard of it till you mentioned it, I just checked it out & to me it looks like an excellent dry food, it's much more than just 'tripe & rice' though. If were not satisfied with what I use then I am pretty sure that would be my other option.

@ Hethspaw - I only found this via other Basset people who seem to rate their food.   I give no guarantees however   and for sure, not all food suits all dogs!!
