Topic Dog Boards / General / Importing a puppy from Slovakia

I wonder if anyone can help? I want to import a puppy from Slovakia (reputable breeder) but have just found out that flights and expenses will add up to between £1000 and £1400 which is far more than I had anticipated. Can anybody recommend a reputable car courier? I know these exist but I'd feel a lot safer with recommendations.
Or I had wondered if anyone knew someone who'd be happy to bring him over with their dogs for Crufts as he will be allowed to come in by then. I would be more than happy to pay and could meet him at Dover/Folkestone.
Thank you

Can't help you with a carrier although if you Google, you'll find some - the people we used, once, to board while we moved across country, did this but I've forgotten their name.   But I would caution you about buying a puppy from somewhere like Slovakia unless you want the bloodlines, know the breeders (or have somebody you trust to go check on the set-up) and have been to see the litter (preferably) beforehand.   In which case you could go again and bring him home yourselves?

http://www.animalcouriers.com/    Here is one and they may be the people we used for boarding.

There have been some horror stories about imports from that part of the world.   Hopefully all is okay in this case?

I think you may also find you have to pay vat as well.

I used animal couriers ( linked to above ) to import my puppy last year and I would recommend them.

Why not drive over and get pup yourself as you say you drive.

Les Hall, Animal Courier, 07803908300 or 01226 747243, or can be found on Facebook. He makes regular trips to Sweden, Belgium, Slovakia etc...can highly recommend.
